Discuss 118-122

Elaboration--Basics. The 7-13 sentence paragraph (not 5)
Discuss how you might organize a paragraph on the following question:
Why do shampoo bottles use the French language (often the directions are in French)?
Remember, not many other products do this.
Write a paragraph of 7-11 sentences explaining why people choose to buy products (shampoo, in this case) with French names and French information on them.
Your answer cannot be that these products come from France or that they are sold in Canada. Try to come up with something more than that. It's also interesting to note that most of these products cost more than products without French writing on them.
Focus on elaboration.
Show progression of ideas by addressing questions like:
WHY would people desire to do this?
HOW can you tell that this is the case?
WHAT leads you to your conclusion?
Whenever you write, imagine that someone is looking over your shoulder and asking you to explain at least two times per paragraph. They will ask you Why, How, and What questions.

FINAL MOVIE PROJECT
During the final exam period, you will show movies that you will make between now and the end of the year. This project is very fun and very educational when done right. Because we will show movies for your final, the reading comprehension test over Catcher in the Rye will be given Tuesday, May 30th.
