What parts of the movie do not seem true to the text?
By "true to the text" I mean that the details don't:
1.  Adequately develop themes
2.  Incorrect ideas are developed
3. Details are simply wrong?

Give four examples and explain why it is a problem

Wednesday, January 17th

Huckleberry Finn

Hand in questions--3 per chapter, 22-31

Homework:
1. Read chapters 32-36 (Finish over the weekend). You don't need to write questions
2. Students who haven't finished your questions, do so for a max of 18/20

Homework last time, for people who didn't do it:
As you read, write three quiz questions of your own (as well as the answers) for each chapter starting with chapter 22. You need one multiple-choice, one short answer (even one word!), and one "identify the speaker of the quote" question--who says it and who he or she is talking to. You may replace one of the three with an essay question, if you prefer.
Friday's homework: Finish chapter 31 and write three questions per chapter. Hand in all questions and answers next Wednesday.

TODAY:
Reading time--30 minutes
Discuss chapter 31
Watch movie.

I'm 56 today, which feels like a bit of a watershed birthday--closer to 60 than 50, and 50 is already more than half a lifetime (not to be Mr. Doom and Gloom!!) It gives one pause and cause for reflection. Let's all reflect a bit today on the direction we would like our lives to take in the next 20 years. For me, that will be age 76, for you, age 36. Answer the following questions on paper:
1. List one thing that you find meaningful
2. List one thing that makes you happy
3. List three jobs you can imagine doing, or at least fields (e.g. working with kids; medicine)
4. Where would you like to live when you're 36? Big city? small? In the East? The West? France?
5. Will you have a partner? Kids?
6. Other than family and job, what is one thing that will make you happy in 20 years?

A few days ago, in my post I said that there would be some SAT Vocabulary on the final exam. I've decided not to do that.
