Tuesday/Wednesday

1. DISTRICT WRITING ASSESSMENT TODAY AND NEXT TIME, if you don't finish, which most of your won't. Be sure to bring your copy of Catcher so that you can read when you finish.
2. Vocabulary this week even though we're not spending time reviewing the words.
Words 21-30 THURSDAY/FRIDAY  Vocabulary for Final Exam
3. Over the weekend, read to page 104 in Catcher in the Rye.
4. Don't forget to finish your HEMINGWAY/FITZGERALD REWRITE FOR THUR/FRIDAY of next week (4/21 or 4/22). Wow, I can't believe I'm giving you this much extra time, but considering that it's the biggest assignment of the year and that it is really very difficult to do well, I'm ok with that.

As a side note, I absolutely loved Invictus by South Salem Chamber Womens Choir. Listen to it!

Sooooo beautiful!

In addition to T.S. Eliot, another poet who expresses the futility of war is the Frenchman Jacques Prevert. Here's his poem Barbara.

If you speak French and would like to work on your accent, listen to this reading of the poem and pause frequently to repeat. This in one of the BEST ways to improve your pronunciation in any language!!
